The UMS–Ginger Borneo Student Incubator Programme is an entrepreneurship and community empowerment initiative established at the Faculty of Business, Economics and Accounting, Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS), Kota Kinabalu.
A dedicated Ginger Borneo centre/outlet has been established within the faculty to provide UMS students with a practical platform to experience entrepreneurship, business management, marketing, product development and social enterprise.
All Ginger Borneo products at the UMS outlet are sourced through the IPR INTAN Merotai community programme, creating a direct link between community producers, UMS academic expertise, students and the market.

The programme provides UMS students with an opportunity to move beyond classroom learning and gain practical experience in a real business environment.
The incubator can also provide a platform for students to develop their own business ideas, explore new products and create potential start-ups based on Sabah's local resources.

Students from Business, Economics, Accounting, Entrepreneurship, Agriculture, Food Science, IT, Engineering, Communications and other disciplines can contribute their knowledge and skills while gaining practical experience.
This is an opportunity to learn from a real community-based supply chain while contributing to the development and commercialisation of Sabah products.
The programme demonstrates how a government community programme can be connected with UMS academic expertise, student entrepreneurship and market opportunities — creating a pathway from community development to agricultural production, from production to product development, and from university learning to entrepreneurship and market access.
